A fave of mine

My sister is staying with us while she waits to move into her apartment in Salt Lake. Having got the kids into bed, I needed to work on cutting fabric for ties for the boys for church this Sunday (gotta have them matching for Easter, photos of work in progress and finished product to come in a later post), so we decided to pop in a movie to keep us entertained while I cut away. I pulled out a stack of movies as options for my sister, and she mentioned that she didn't remember much about one of my all time favorite movies, The Man From Snowy River. This came as a surprise to me, as this (and its very good sequel, Return to Snowy River) is such a great movie, and one that I remember watching often while growing up.

I can't exactly pinpoint what it is about these movies that I love so much. Is it the gorgeous cinematography (and seriously guys, for the 80s, this stuff is pretty good!), Aussie accents, beautiful horses, or is it just a great love story (come on ladies, I know you all have a soft spot for forbidden love)? I'm not sure, but if you haven't seen either of there, PLEASE borrow a copy from someone (and if you are local, I have them both, albeit they are a bit scratched, but we can get our DVD player to play them for the most part =)), especially if you love horses.

Thomas and Friends Live! On Stage

Thanks to Mom Select, Max, Dane and I were able to see Thomas and Friends Live! On Stage at the E Center in Salt Lake City. Both boys were thrilled to be able to see the trains. For the entire 45 minute drive from our home to the E Center I was peppered with questions about the trains and the show. They were so cute and, so excited!

When we arrived we had to get some yummy snacks, of course (just popcorn and a drink, but that giant bucket of popcorn was exciting for a 2 and 4 year old!) and found our seats. We had a great view of the stage, which featured a beautifully painted backdrop.

The show itself was very cute. Filled with dancing, singing and interactive fun, it held my 4 year old's attention the entire 90 minutes! My 2 year old LOVED the show, singing and dancing along for the first half hour-45 minutes, but definitely got antsy after a while. Thank goodness we had the whole row to ourselves, so he was able to dance up and down the row without disturbing other show attendees!

The show features Thomas, James, Gordon, Sir Toppam hat and many more of your favorite friends from the Island of Sodor. It also features a troupe of Circus performers who have arrived on the Island. Unfortunately the town didn't get the message that the Circus was coming and they have to scramble to prepare for the show! Thomas tries very hard to be a "Very Useful Engine" but runs into a few mishaps along the way. In the end he learns that he can still be a Useful Engine, even if he has to let others help sometimes.

I highly recommend this show for children ages 4-7! It truly is an adorable show (heck even I had a great time singing along!), but a little bit long for the younger (1 to 3 years) set. Want to see if Thomas is chugging his way to a town near you? Head here and see a list of shows and information on ordering tickets!

A new blog (and no, this one is not going anywhere)

I have recently discovered the world of blog giveaways (aka Word of Mouth Marketing). The idea behind these giveaways is to get products into the hands of consumers and let them share what they think with their friends and those with whom they associate. The idea is that these reviews come from real people who have actually used the product. They send product to review to a select group of bloggers, and the bloggers post a review of the product on their site. Along with their review, many reviewers offer a giveaway for the same product, so you in turn can try the product!

Here is a sample of the products I have been able to try because of blog giveaways:
Robeez baby booties (our favorite shoes for Lucas)
Eve Organics Hot Day blush
Karito Kids charmer doll
and
a boys tie pattern from You Can Make This (I seriously will be making TONs of these for my boys!)
and more!

Since I have been so lucky, I wanted to share my luck with all of my bloggy friends! I am starting a new blog highlighting some of my favorite blog giveaways! Check it regularly to see what is available to win. I plan to post a minimum of one a day. I will also include reviews of products that I am lucky enough to win! So head on over and check it out!

Here is the addy http://morethoughtswithchris.blogspot.com/ (yeah, pretty simple if you already follow this one!). I am still working on the design of the blog, so be patient with me as I play with the layout! Thanks =)

Got a file you want to send, but it is too big for your email server?

Back in November I was trying to send multiple scans to members of my family. I ended up having to send each file by itself in an individual email because of the file size limits imposed by yahoo groups (the way my husbands family communicates). This was very inconvenient and frustrating! I really wish that I could have used File Hurl.

File Hurl is a site that allows you to send a file, without the retrictions of file size limits, to anyone you want. It is totally free. Only the people that you want to see a file will be allowed to access it. You can only send one file at a time, BUT you can zip multiple files together and send the zipped file.

It is super simple to send a file. From the home page click on "Hurl It" on the side bar. On the next page fill in the requested information (your name, email, email addresses of those to whom you are sending the file); click browse to chose the file from your computer; include a message with the file if you want and click "Hurl Away!".
