Some of you may know that at one time in my life I was a good runner. I spent 5 years running Track and Cross Country (between 4 years of Highschool and a year at college), but between getting married, going to work, and having children, running went by the wayside. I have not had success in getting started again, until recently. I ran a 5k race this weekend as part ouf our city's Heritage days, an it was fun to be in a race again. I wasn't very fast, just over 31 minutes, but the experience makes me hungry for more!
I know, some of you may be wondering what happened to the triathlon I had planned on completing. Well, my training had been too patchy (due to illness and scheduling conflicts) so about 2 weeks prior to the event I made the decision that I would not be able to attempt it. It turned out fine, as the bike portion was cancelled due to high winds, the swim was almost cancelled due to temperature and I was VERY sick with a BAD cold that day. Instead of quitting all together, I turned my training to running instead of all 3. I have the trail right by my house, and it is really easy to find time to fit that in to my day if I just get up at about 6:30 and head out for a half an hour.
Ignore the fact that I do NOT look good in short shorts and I look exhausted, but here are a couple photos Jared took of me during the race. One at the beginning and one at the end.

Good job!! I love the way your hair looks in the first one...so healthy looking and long! Have you found other ones to do to keep you motivated?
Way to go! That's more than I've ran in a long time. BTW the baby clothes we got from you are working out great for Calvin and he is starting to get used to sleeping in the Bassinet. Thanks again.
Good for you, Chris taking up running again - I takes real dedication to fit it in with a young family too! Keep up the good work!
You go girl. What an inspiration. I really need to follow your example.
We sure miss our ward, our street, and our house. I guess it isn't ours anymore. That is just so sad.
I'm so impressed! Finding time to do something for yourself is such a great thing. Maybe it will inspire the rest of us!

I guess you will be passing me up on the Alzheimers walk/run.
You're awesome!
Way to go Christine!! It was fun to see you at the race. You're faster than me and I too have started to run. Maybe I'll see you out on the trail in the mornings :). Keep it up, you look great!!
