A fave of mine

My sister is staying with us while she waits to move into her apartment in Salt Lake. Having got the kids into bed, I needed to work on cutting fabric for ties for the boys for church this Sunday (gotta have them matching for Easter, photos of work in progress and finished product to come in a later post), so we decided to pop in a movie to keep us entertained while I cut away. I pulled out a stack of movies as options for my sister, and she mentioned that she didn't remember much about one of my all time favorite movies, The Man From Snowy River. This came as a surprise to me, as this (and its very good sequel, Return to Snowy River) is such a great movie, and one that I remember watching often while growing up.

I can't exactly pinpoint what it is about these movies that I love so much. Is it the gorgeous cinematography (and seriously guys, for the 80s, this stuff is pretty good!), Aussie accents, beautiful horses, or is it just a great love story (come on ladies, I know you all have a soft spot for forbidden love)? I'm not sure, but if you haven't seen either of there, PLEASE borrow a copy from someone (and if you are local, I have them both, albeit they are a bit scratched, but we can get our DVD player to play them for the most part =)), especially if you love horses.

Click on either movie image for more info at Amazon:

We're always looking for a good movie (they're so hard to find!) and haven't seen either...are they appropriate for kids 8 and up??

You forgot to mention the music! I knew I could capture any boys' heart if I could sit down at the piano and play "Jessica's Theme." Or was it the other way around? ;)
